PARIS, France — Caeleb Dressel has one gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and he's pushing for another trip to the podium.
However, after finishing tied for 13th in qualifying times in the prelims Thursday morning, the Green Cove Springs native's entrance into the semifinals isn't guaranteed. He finished in the top eight Thursday afternoon, fifth, and second in his semifinal with a time of 21:58.
Dressel finished with a 21.91 time in the prelims, far off the 21.32 time of Australian Cameron McEvoy.
On Saturday, Dressel pulled ahead with a massive lead in the anchor leg to secure the gold in the 4x100m relay. It was Dressel's eighth gold medal.
Dressel holds the Olympic Record at 21.09 for his Tokyo 2020 gold medal-winning performance.
