Three seasons into his NFL career, former No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence has agreed to a lucrative extension.
The Jaguars are giving Lawrence a five-year extension worth $275 million, or $55 million a year. The contract will have $200 million guaranteed.
Lawrence matches Cincinatti Bengals QB Joe Burrow as the league's highest paid players.
The Jaguars' QB is the only one of five QBs taken in the first 15 picks of the 2021 NFL Draft to earn a massive contract extension. He's also the only QB of the bunch not to be traded before their rookie contracts end.
Lawrence entered the league with the scandal-ridden Urban Meyer as his head coach in 2021, posting 3,641 yards with 12 touchdowns and a league-leading 17 interceptions.
But Lawrence has rebounded with two stellar seasons, despite frequent injuries during the home stretch in 2023, under Super Bowl winning coach Doug Pederson, with the franchise quarterback besting 4,000 yards each season and improving his completion percentage.
Lawrence has 11,770 yards and 58 touchdowns early in his career. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2022.
