JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jaguars' disappointing 2023 season came to a close back in January in a game they could have won against their AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans, in Nashville.
A win would have locked up a spot in the postseason for the Jaguars, but it did not happen.
Nearly six months later, the bitter taste of that loss still lingers, especially for quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence said the failures of the 2023 season are fueling him. "I think it's fuel, motivation for him to compete this year, to stay healthy this year, to lead better this year, and maybe demand more this year. Those are all positive traits that can come out of something as negative as the end of last year," said head coach Doug Pederson.
Meanwhile, negotiations between Trevor Lawrence's agent and the Jaguars are still ongoing. Lawrence said he is aware of the talks but is focused on doing his job. He added that it would be ideal for a deal to be reached before the start of the season but acknowledged that he can't control those factors.
