JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has cleared concussion protocol and had surgery to repair his injured AC joint on Tuesday.
According to head coach Doug Pederson, Lawrence cleared concussion protocol on Sunday morning and received surgery to repair his non-throwing shoulder on Tuesday.
"He actually had surgery yesterday and it was successful," Pederson said during his Wednesday media availability. "So he's now on the road to recovery."
Lawrence suffered a concussion on Dec. 1 from a hit laid by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Lawrence was placed into the protocol for the last two weeks and was put on the injured reserve list on Dec. 4.
Coming into the game against Houston, Lawrence was nursing an AC joint injury to his non-throwing shoulder that picked up in Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Lawrence didn’t miss time during the Eagles game, but didn’t play against the Minnesota Vikings or Detroit Lions in the weeks that followed.
Lawrence completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 2,045 yards and 11 touchdown while throwing seven interceptions during the 2024 season.
It's a disappointing end for him after being awarded the largest contract in franchise history this offseason.
Pederson said he was unsure if Lawrence would be available to participate in offseason organized team activities, but did say the injury doesn't have a long-term or lengthy recovery process.
"At some point this spring they'll be ready to go," Pederson said, referencing tight end Evan Engram who also had shoulder surgery this week.
Mac Jones will continue to start for the Jaguars for the remainder of the season.
