JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For the first time in over a decade, the Jaguars got themselves a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. But after a dramatic game in overtime, they lost 34-31 to the Bengals.
In the 4th quarter, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was taking out of the game with an apparent ankle injury.
Lawrence took a snap, dropped back and was stepped on by an offensive lineman and went down. In frustration, he threw his helmet off.
It was just a few weeks ago in week six where Trevor had a knee injury at home against Indy.
The Jaguars deemed Trevor's return to the game "questionable," but he did not return tot he game. At last check, he was in the x-ray room.
Play-by-play
The Jaguars won the coin toss and deferred receiving the ball.
In the first drive, Josh Allen picked up where he left off and picked up a huge sack on 4th and short.
On offense, the Jaguars kept those chains moving off the snap. From the red zone, Travis Etienne Jr. would go 4-yards to the house. It took 7 plays, 51 yards and 3:49 minutes. Jaguars up on the Bengals, 7-0 in the first quarter.
At the end of the first, the Jaguars were still in the lead, 7-0.
In a clap back, the Cincinnati Bengals picked up their first touchdown of the night within the first three minutes of the second quarter. This one took eight plays, 92-yards and was capped off by a 6-yard run by Joe Mixon. Tied up ay 7-7.
In dramatic fashion, Evan Engram picked up his first touchdown of the season with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars were back on top, 14-7.
In response to the Jaguars touchdown, Bengals' Joe Mixon picked up his second touchdown of the night. Bengals were back on the Jaguars' heels at 14-14.
Cincinnati were able to get a leg up on the Jaguars as Ja'Marr Chase books it for a 76-yard touchdown pass. With 11:50 left in the third quarter, the Bengals were up, 21-14.
The Jaguars got a big break as Trevor Lawrence found Parker Washington at the end zone. The Jaguars were back to the line with the Bengals at 21-21.
On top of his sack earlier, Josh Allen cranked it up a notch and picked off Jake Browning. The Jaguars took over inside the red zone. That pick would set up Trevor Lawrence for the stretch touchdown from the 1-yard line. The Jaguars lead, 28-21.
At the end of the third quarter, the Jaguars led the Bengals, 28-21.
The Jaguars pick up two penalties before the first drive of the fourth quarter with back-to-back delay of game calls.
After a tie at 31-31 in the fourth quarter, the game went into overtime.
Josh McPherson took it home for the Bengals, ending the game at 34-31.
