JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars will wrap up training camp Thursday with a joint practice finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ahead of their second preseason game Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Despite the potential for tension on the field, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson emphasized that fighting will not be tolerated. This comes after several fights broke out at other NFL joint practices, resulting in fines for the teams involved.
Pederson believes the Jaguars have much to gain from joint practices, treating them as games with a lot at stake.
"You get to pick the situations, the scenarios. It's very controlled. There's no live tackling or anything like that, but they're physical practices. You can get quite a bit out of them," Pederson said.
He also stressed the importance of staying focused on the team's goals.
"Just to continue to work, continue to evaluate, make progress and just an opportunity to kind of get some good quality work against another opponent besides ourselves," Pederson said.
The Jaguars will conclude their 2024 training camp on Thursday, Aug 5.
