Jaguars' offense working towards building trust and confidence

Day three of training camp wrapped up on Friday, and the Jaguars are seemingly heading in the right direction.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Day three of training camp wrapped up on Friday, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are seemingly heading in the right direction.

Trust and confidence are where the Jaguars have said they've struggled in the past, especially last season. Flash forward to the thick of training camp, and offensive coordinator Press Taylor said that's where he's seen the most improvement.

"They're moving around on the field more confidently it's not getting back in line and watching somebody else do it so I know what's going on. It's, 'Hey, we're running this drill,' they jump to the front of the line, they know what the expectation is. You just see that; you get to see their skill set flourish a little more because the confidence is there. The confidence is just, 'I know what I'm doing right here,'" said Press Taylor, Jaguars offensive coordinator.

He said the rookies fell into place at training camp right away because of veteran leaders like Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis.

"I think they were brought up the right way. They're carrying that over and passing that over to younger players. Not just Brian, I mean, we've got a lot of young guys in that room, a lot of first, second-year players in that room. Those are two great vets to really look at and emulate as you go," Taylor said.

Taylor says his goal is to empower the offense, and step one of achieving that is communication.

"A lot of things will happen on the field and our first question is 'why did you do that?' We just want an explanation. We're not trying to catch you from doing something wrong. We just want to know why you thought that way, and then if you thought a certain way that we weren't expecting, we need to go back to the way we communicated it to begin with," Taylor said.

Taylor also said the Jaguars offense is right on schedule with where they need to be.
