Jaguars fall apart in second half, Dolphins hit game-winning field goal in final seconds of season opener

With four seconds left in the game, the Dolphins hit the game-winning field goal. The Big Cats lose their season opener, 20-17.

MIAMI, Florida — We made it to week one of the NFL regular season! The Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Miami facing the Dolphins.

The Dolphins started their week one the untraditional way. Dolphins' wide receiver, Tyreek Hill was detained by police for "reckless driving," according to reports.

He wasn't detained for long and started against the Jaguars.

Here's a list of the inactives from the Jaguars roster:

20 S Daniel Thomas
62 OL Javon Foster
70 OL Cole Van Lanen
90 DT Esezi Otomewo
98 DT Jordan Jefferson
99 DT Jeremiah Ledbetter

The Dolphins were the receiving team to start off.

Jaguars' defense would start off hot, creating takeaways. The Dolphins made the mistake of going for it on fourth down in their first drive. Darnell Savage would force the incomplete.

The takeaway celebration would be short-lived. Jaguars quarterback, Trevor Lawrence was sacked in the offense's first play of the first drive.

Dolphin's defense came out with a literal bang and kept the Jaguars from getting a first down in their first drive.

With the drive starting at Jaguars' 4-yard line, the big cats got those chains moving. Running back, Travis Etienne Jr. capped off the drive with a one-yard touchdown. The Jaguars take the first lead of the day, 7-0.

This ball movement is what Jaguars fans have longed for.

This will be the first, first-quarter touchdown for the Jaguars in six games.

At the end of the first quarter, the Jaguars are in the lead, 7-0.

Struggling with penalties, the Jaguars were still able to get down the field.

Trevor Lawrence connected with the rookie, Brian Thomas Jr. for his first career NFL touchdown. The extra point is good, and the Jaguars lead steadily, 14-0 with six minutes left in the first half.

The Dolphins are able to squeeze in a touchdown to wrap up the half, Miami's De'von Achane with the one-yarder to the house. The Jaguars are still in the lead, 14-7 with less than a minute left in the first half. Kicker Cam Little drilled a field goal as time expired in the half.

In the third, Jaguars' Arik Armstead collected his first sack as a Jaguar.

Then, the momentum completely shifts.

From inside the 20-yard line, Travis Etienne gets the ball punched out by the Dolphins in what was supposed to be a Jaguars touchdown. The Dolphins gain confidence from their first forced turnover.

Miami capitalized on the takeaway as Tyreek Hill completed the pass from Tua Tagovailoa for the 80-yard touchdown.

Hill, who was in handcuffs earlier in the day, made his statement with that touchdown. Miami on the heels of the Jaguars, only down by a field goal. 17-14, the Jaguars are still in the lead.

Now in the fourth quarter, the Jaguars struggle on offense. Not able to convert on 4th and 1 to start the fourth quarter, the Dolphins are inside the 30-yard line.

The Dolphins missed a 42-yard field goal that would tie the game. The Jaguars got very lucky with that miss.

With the Jaguars still in the lead, 17-14, the defense began to struggle and get penalized. Tyson Campbell limped off the field with an apparent hamstring injury.

The Dolphins settle for the 47-yard field goal and with that, we're tied 17-17 with four minutes left in the game.

With four seconds left in the game, the Dolphins hit the game-winning field goal. This one is from 52 yards out.

The Jaguars failed to score a touchdown or hit a field goal the entire second half.
