JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Wide Receiver, Gabe Davis, brought onboard by the Jacksonville Jaguars for his experience and leadership, has been dealing with injuries since joining the team. The primary goal for Davis is to stay healthy for the long haul.
"I feel pretty good. Did everything today, all team reps. The last 15-12 plays, I was in there the whole time, felt good. The body is feeling great," said Davis.
Davis missed organized team activities (OTA) and minicamp but fully returned from his knee injury mid-training camp. He acknowledges that pacing himself for the entire season, rather than rushing back, is crucial.
"You fight with it sometimes because you're a new player on a new team and you're trying to prove yourself to the guys that you're going to be playing with that you're tough, that you can make plays, that you can be dependable, they can trust you. When you are going through aches and pains, you have to fight mentally. You want to show these guys you have their back," Davis added.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Davis will play some preseason games but emphasized a cautious approach.
"We want to make sure he's healthy for the entire season and he's done some really good things in practice and he's showing us enough. He's one of those veteran guys that you don't need to see a ton of in preseason games, but at the same time, I think it would be good for him to get out there with the guys," said Pederson.
Preseason ends near the end of August, with Week 1 starting in September.
