Jaguars fullback Tommy Bohanon was out of the league last year, now he is a Pro Bowl voting leader

It's like a Disney movie!

Jaguars fullback Tommy Bohanon wasn't playing in the NFL last season. He spent the year at home, working out and searching for an opportunity to prove himself.

The former New York Jets seventh-round pick finally got his second chance in April when the Jaguars signed him to a one-year contract.

He was asked to compete against seventh-round pick Marquez Williams in the offseason. With the team investing a draft pick on a younger player, the optics for the battle seemed to place Bohanon as the underdog in the competition.

However, Williams suffered injuries throughout training camp and Bohanon played well in the preseason. The veteran won the battle and the starting fullback job.

Now - 12 games into his first season with the Jaguars - Bohanon has the most fan votes for the Pro Bowl at his position in the AFC.

It's the stuff of Disney movies or at least made-for-TV Hallmark flicks.

"Honestly, it's a blessing," Bohanon said last week.

"I worked really hard for this. From being out of the league, if you look at my Instagram, I kind of tried to show people my workouts throughout my time off last year. I definitely worked hard for this but it's definitely a blessing to be in this position and to be given this opportunity by the Jaguars. I'm very grateful and it's definitely exciting to have that recognition."

As of Wednesday, Bohanon has 87,793 votes. That's pretty impressive for a little-known fullback in a small market. However, the Jaguars' early success with the running game has brought attention to the Jacksonville backfield.

Bohanon's tag-team partner behind the line of scrimmage, rookie Leonard Fournette, ranks third in AFC running back voting.

The two players are the lone Pro Bowl voting standouts for the Jaguars on offense. On defense, it's a packed house.

Cornerback A.J. Bouye leads all NFL cornerbacks in Pro Bowl votes. His cornerback partner Jalen Ramsey is right behind him in second place.

Defensive end Calais Campbell and defensive tackle Malik Jackson are in second place at their respective spots in the AFC. Linebackers Telvin Smith and Myles Jack are both in the top 10 in voting at their position in the conference.
