For the first time all season, the Jags' defense and offense were playing together in the first half. But, it all fell apart in the final minutes.

HOUSTON, Texas — The Jacksonville Jaguars were in need of good news in Houston after losing eight straight starts. That's didn't happen.

The Jags were heading into this game 0-3, and second to last in the AFC South. Now, they are 0-4.

The following players were inactive for the Jaguars in today's game:

  • 6 S Darnell Savage
  • 17 TE Evan Engram
  • 33 LB Devin Lloyd
  • 59 DE Myles Cole
  • 62 OL Javon Foster
  • 70 OL Cole Van Lanen
  • 98 DT Jordan Jefferson

In the Jaguars' first drive, the Texans forced a takeaway, but from a Logan Cooke kick, the Texans dropped the ball on the one.

The Jaguars caught a break with that Houston mistake. Then for the first time in a long time, the Jaguars capitalized on Houston's mistake. Trevor Lawrence finds Brian Thomas Jr for the touchdown. The Jaguars in the lead, 7-0.

But, celebrations last for one Texans' play. C.J. Stroud doing what he's good at and moving the chains for the Texans.

Stroud hands it off to Stefon Diggs who had the rest of 2024 to find an opening and take it to the house. Houston tied it up, 7-7.

Later in the first, Lawrence gets wrapped up and can't convert on third. The Jaguars settle for a Cam Little field goal. The lucky Jaguars are back in the lead, 10-7.

In the second quarter, the Texans find their spark, but not with the Jaguars' defense making them work for it. C.J. Stroud finds Nico Collins with an acre of space for the three-yard touchdown. The Texans are back in the lead, 14-10.

For the first time all season, the defense and offense are playing together. A sight for sore eyes.

The Jaguars would settle for a 52-yard field goal which is hit by Little. The Jaguars are in this game still, 14-13. Houston in the lead with six minutes until the half.

As the half was about to wrap up, Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson called a timeout. The Texans were in the process of attempting the 30-yard field goal.

The Texans nail the attempt and stay in the lead, 17-13 at the half.

The Jaguars come out of the half playing some decent football. Although Trevor Lawrence missed a handful of opportunities, the offense managed to pull off an earned touchdown. Trevor Lawrence found wide receiver Christian Kirk for the touchdown which put the Jaguars in the lead again, 20-17.

Kirk and rookie, Brian Thomas Jr. are playing lights out.

Second-year running back, Tank Bigsby goes for an explosive 58-yards to the red zone. This is the longest run of his career so far. But, all good things come to an end. The Jaguars, in the best scoring position, flop.

Trevor Lawrence on fourth, struts right into the Texans' defense and can't complete a touchdown. The score is still, 20-17.

After several possession changes, neither the Texans nor Jaguars can put anything on the score board.

The Jaguars got the ball with less than four minutes in the game, and throw it away; Texans' ball with less than three minutes left.

The Texans march down the field, into Jaguars territory with time running out.

In the final seconds of the game, the Texans score a touchdown, putting the Jags behind by four.

The Jaguars get the ball with 18 seconds left, but can't do anything.

The Jags lose their fourth game in a row, 24-20.
