JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The NFL has flexed the Jacksonville Jaguars out of their Week 9 Sunday Night Football matchup vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, the league announced Monday.
The Jaguars were scheduled to travel to Lincoln Financial Field Sunday, Nov. 3 for a primetime matchup on NBC with the Eagles. The game was supposed to highlight two playoff hopeful teams in addition to another Doug Pederson reunion in Philly.
While the Eagles are 4-2, the Jaguars are struggling. At 2-5, the NFL decided to move the Jags out of the primetime slot in favor of the Colts vs. Vikings, two teams with winning records as of Oct. 21.
Since schedule makers can't see into the future when they create the schedule in the offseason, "flexible scheduling" was introduced in 2006. This allows the NFL to move a set number of games around per year in hopes to attract a larger audience.
The league can move a game from the 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. ET slots into Sunday Night Football between the weeks of 5 and 17.
The Jaguars vs. Eagles matchup will now be shown at 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS.
