DETROIT — It was a hard day for the Jaguars, as Detroit historically beat Jacksonville, handing them the worst loss since the Jaguars have been a team.
In the teams' opening drive, quarterback Mac Jones got the Big Cats in somewhat field goal range. The Jaguars' kicker, Cam Little, hit a massive 59-yard field goal, which put the Jaguars in the lead first, 3-0.
The Lions punch right back. This time with David Montgomery's two-yard rushing touchdown. With the extra point good, the Lions took the lead, 7-3.
At the end of the first quarter, the Lions are still in the lead, 7-3.
To start the second quarter, the Lions stayed on the field and it was Jahmyr Gibbs who wrapped up the one-yard rushing touchdown. The Lions are still in the lead, 14-3.
With seven minutes left in the first half, David Montgomery picked up his second touchdown of the day with the six-yard rush. The Lions up their lead, 20-3.
Just a few minutes later, Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown completes the 27-yard pass from Jared Goff. The Jaguars won't be able to come back at this rate. The Lions were up big, 28-3.
Jaguars offense was unable to stay on the field long enough to give their defense a break.
Cam Little did some good before the half ended and hit the 35-yard field goal. The Jaguars are still down, 28-6.
To open up the second half, the Lions completely shut down the Jaguars' defense with a Jared Goff 64-yard pass to Jameson Williams for the touchdown. The Lions continue crushing the Jaguars, 35-6.
The Jaguars haven't had an answer for Detroit all game. The Lions looked faster and stronger than the Jaguars.
In the third still, the Lions don't let up. With less than five minutes left in the third quarter, Detroits' Jaren Goff hit Brock Wright in the endzone for yet, another Lions touchdown. Goff went from a five-interception game against the Houston Texans to completely running over the Jaguars the week after. The Lions are in the lead by a lot, 42-6.
More salt on the wound when the Lions just kept playing football.
Goff hit Amon-Ra St. Brown with the nine-yard pass for yet, another touchdown. The Jaguars have been playing bad football. The Lions were still up, 49-6.
With less than eight minutes left in the game, the Lions are forced to settle for a field goal. Jake Bates hit the 54-yard field goal and if this game wasn't already bad, it got worse. The Lions continue to dominate the Jaguars, 52-6.
The Lions beat the Jaguars in historic fashion, handing them the worst loss since the Jaguars have been a team, 52-6.
