Jaguars take down Chiefs for first preseason win at EverBank Stadium, 26-13

Jaguars' wide receiver Parker Washington's 73-yard kickoff return put him on the top of the list of longest preseason kickoff returns in the NFL.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Football is back! Your Jacksonville Jaguars decided to kick off the preseason with a bang. Not only did they start their preseason against the defending Super Bowl champions, but they decided to add a pinch of history.

To note, the following players will not participate in the game.

Jaguars' wide receiver Parker Washington had the National Football League's longest kickoff return with 73 in the opening drive, kick.

This put the Jaguars in a beautiful scoring position. Running back Travis Etienne Jr. got the job done and put the first numbers on the board for the Jaguars. The big cats in the lead, 7-3.

By the end of the first quarter, the Jaguars would give QB1, quarterback Trevor Lawrence a breather. Backup quarterback, CJ Beathard came in. Immediately, Beathard made a play, connecting with rookie wide receiver, Brian Thomas Jr.

At the end of the first quarter, the Jaguars are in the lead still, 7-3.

To wrap up the half, the Jaguars put themselves on top, Beathard hit Devin Duvernay with the 35-yard touchdown pass. The Jaguars lead before the half, 18-10. The drive was five plays and 80 yards.

To close out the first half in fashion, the Jaguars picked up the safety, which made it 20-10 at the half.

Jaguars quarterback, Mac Jones had a chance to shine. Jones couldn't get it going in the first drive of the third quarter. 

The defense came up huge in the third quarter as Christian Braswell got the strip and scored 52 yards to the house. During the celebration, the call was called back and ruled down by contact. The Chiefs got lucky on the play.

Cam Little hits the 47-yard field goal for the Jaguars, bringing the total to 23-13. Little hit another field goal, stretching the lead to 26-13.
