Jacksonville teams to compete in first televised NFL Flag Championships

With the growing popularity of flag football, all the action will be televised on ABC, ESPN, Disney, and several streaming services.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The first-ever televised NFL Flag Championships will feature two teams representing Jacksonville, as the 15-U Boys and 18-U Girls Jaguars Prep squads held a pre-tournament celebration today at Main Event on Phillips Highway.

The Jaguars PREP organization is providing this opportunity for both teams, free of charge.

The NFL Flag Championships will be held in Canton, Ohio, and will include 280 national teams and six international teams. With the growing popularity of flag football, all the action will be televised on ABC, ESPN, Disney, and several streaming services. Gameplay will take place from July 18-21.

"This has been a big tournament. The advertisement of the whole NFL Flag league, you have to make it. So yes, it has hit me," said London Jenkins, a wide receiver for the team.

"To see where flag football has come because I played it for so long, to see where it's gone now where it's ESPN and ABC and everybody is getting involved, it's truly exciting," said Head Coach Ralph Graham.

Both teams are expected to play several games a day while in Ohio.

15U play Thursday at 4 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. while 18U play at 4:35 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
