"Guys are getting a little chippy out there, and it's just football," Jaguars' Gabe Davis unphased by small scuffle at training camp

Rain or shine, the Jaguars grind. The big cats hosted another fan-less training camp inside training facility.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Rain with a side of thunder at the Miller Electric Center amid Debby making their debut in Florida.

Rain or shine, the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to have practice. On Monday, the Jaguars kept practice 100% indoors.

During 11 on 11, Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis took a hard hit, then a little bit of chaos followed. Fellow wide receiver and veteran, Christian Kirk jumped in, defending Davis. After a few minutes, both teams (offense and defense) were on their respective sides and practice continued.

After practice, Davis met with media to talk about the scuffle. Davis seemingly unphased, said he was fine.

"I was on the ground, so I didn't start any of that," said Davis. "Guys are getting a little chippy out there, and it's just football, it is what it is. I'm fine".

Davis said that Christian Kirk came to his side when the hard hit happened. Jokingly, Davis applauded the clap back and support.

"As he should. I appreciate those guys, going out there," said Davis.

Not too much time was spent asking questions about the scuffle.

Davis said he's excited for the Jaguars upcoming preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs, a team he has history with after going up against them in the playoffs when he was with the Buffalo Bills.

"It's always a little something extra with the Chiefs, man. I mean, playing them so many times that I have, they have a special place in my heart. But it’s a preseason game, you know, you see them. I know a lot of the guys over there through playing with them over the years. But definitely, that's a team that you always want to beat,” Davis added.

The veteran is finally able to participate in a full practice. Davis is coming back from a knee injury that he had been dealing with as the Jaguars picked him up during free agency.

He plans on playing against the Chiefs. “Oh yeah. Yeah, for sure. I'll be good to go,” said Davis.
