Evan Engram not taking captainship lightly

"This is definitely one of the biggest blessings I've ever gotten in my career."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have named five captains for the 2024 season, with four of them — Trevor Lawrence, Josh Hines-Allen, Foyesade Oluokun, and Logan Cooke — returning to the leadership role.

The only first-time captain is tight end Evan Engram. The former first-round pick set career highs last season with 117 catches for 967 yards and four touchdowns.

Heading into his eighth NFL season, Engram said being named a captain is a significant honor.

"It's something I will never take lightly. I'm just trying to be an example every single day, lead by example, and push guys in the right direction," Engram said. "The way this team has come together over the last couple of years, with both returning players and the new guys, having that 'C' on my chest means a lot. It's something I'm going to take head on and hold myself to a really high standard."

Throughout training camp, Engram was often the first player on the field, putting in extra work. He’s aiming for an even more productive season in his eighth year.

The Jaguars and Miami Dolphins kick off Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium.
