JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Brian Thomas Jr. finds his voice and chemistry ahead of Jaguars' preseason
Since the Jaguars picked up wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., he has been a man of action rather than words. As the preseason approaches, he said he's excited to finally prove himself on the field.
"To build that chemistry with my teammates, go out there and be the best that I can be and be the best as a team," Thomas said.
Jaguars' offensive coordinator Press Taylor noted that in the past, Thomas has been teased for his quiet demeanor, but that's changed a bit since training camp.
"His personality has been pretty consistent. He is who he is. He's not a guy that gives you a ton of juice, a ton of energy at times, but he's very locked in. He's very serious about what he does. He continues to develop. I mean, you see Gabe kind of ribs him quite a bit to where you get a little bit more out of him at times," Taylor said.
Thomas also acknowledged the shift, saying, "Just talking more, communicating more, opening up more, just having fun."
August means football, and Taylor said training camp is really just a ramp-up to the beginning of the season, with Thomas coming out of his shell at the right time.
"We just encourage him to be who he is. We're not trying to change him at all. We're very happy with the person he is that we brought on the team. Like any of our young guys, we want them to feel accepted to where they can let their personality show," Taylor said.
The Jaguars will host two of their three preseason games at EverBank Stadium.
