Photos: Fans bring their cats to Jumbo Shrimp game

Here's something you don't see every day. Jumbo Shrimp fans were encouraged to bring their pet cats to the baseball grounds for a "Purr in the Park" themed night.

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp knocked it out of the park again with a hilarious "bring your cat to the game" night at the baseball grounds Tuesday.

The Shrimp encouraged fans to bring along, either crated or leashed, their feline friends to the ballpark for a "Purr in the Park" themed night.

The Shrimp have been known to hold some wacky, but fun, promotional nights at the baseball grounds to stir up some interest in their team's schedule.

Invitations were extended Tuesday night to fans' cats. Have you ever seen a cat in a ballpark that wasn't a stray on the loose?

The team was met with some pretty funny responses when it promoted the event on their social media Tuesday, like "My cat would get asked to leave after starting 5 brawls in the parking lot," and "My cat ate 4 shrimp yesterday and he was in heaven."

The Shrimp scratched and clawed their way to a 8-3 victory versus the Durham Bulls, so perhaps the cats will be invited back.

Other upcoming Jumbo Shrimp promotional nights include Hip Hop Night, Star Wars Night, Plant Based Night and more.
