TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The stage is set for the "College Football Playoff," and despite a perfect 13-0 record, Florida State University (FSU) was left out. FSU is one of only three remaining undefeated teams.

Right before 1 p.m. on Saturday FSU released a statement. Head football coach Mike Norvell expressed his dissatisfaction with the committee's decision, stating, "I'm disgusted and infuriated with the committee's decision." He further added, "What happened today goes against everything that is true and right in college football. A team that overcame tremendous adversity and found a way to win doing whatever it took on the field was cheated today. It's a sad day for college football."

As the No. 5 seed, Florida State will face the two-time defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs (No. 6) in the Orange Bowl on Saturday, December 30th, at Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida. Both FSU football and its fans are discontented with the situation. Even ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips voiced his discontent when the news broke. In a report from Sports Illustrated, Phillips stated, "It's unfathomable Florida State—an undefeated Power Five champion—was left out." He also remarked, "College football deserved better," a sentiment echoed by many.

In a surprising turn, the two-time defending national champion, Georgia Bulldogs, was also left out of the playoff picture, further fueling the debate.

However, accolades are due to FSU. Now, turning to the top four teams selected for the national title chance: Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama. The CFP National Championship will take place on January 8th, aired on ESPN.
