CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Some of the best men's and women's college flag football teams competed on the First Coast in the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association [NIRSA] Flag Football Championship Series.
The NIRSA Championship Series partnered with RCX Sports and the Jacksonville Jaguars for the event.
The series featured top collegiate teams from across the country in four divisions: men's, women's, unified, and co-rec.
"We've done well. We've traveled. Now we're here, competing," said Nealie Cook, a slot and outside linebacker for Georgia.
"Part of it comes down to the fact that some of them are just here to have fun, truthfully," said Nicole Jackson, director of national sports programs for NIRSA.
Pool and bracket play began Monday at the Clay County Sports Complex and continued Tuesday, with the tournament concluding Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Flex Field at Daily's Place.
