JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville's men's and women's United Soccer League (USL) teams finally have an official crest and name: Sporting Club Jacksonville, better known as Sporting JAX.
Sporting JAX is the first pro soccer club in the U.S. to have the same crest and name for the men's and women's teams.
The owners of the club met with several community members of Jacksonville to create a name and crest that was relevant to the city. The motto of the club is Lift Every Voice, and it's about giving everyone an opportunity and voice in the world of soccer.
Co-owners Tim Tebow and Fred Taylor emphasized the importance of the community and wanting to make a large impact.
"We've all seen what sports can do for relationships, for families, for joy together, for memories, for moments. And hopefully that's what these teams can do for this amazing community that we're blessed to call home," said co-owner Tim Tebow.
"The influence, impact on the community is going to be huge. There's going to be a lot of job opportunities available. Just a lot of creation, so it's exciting to be a part of it," said co-owner Fred Taylor.
The club's stadium location is yet to be determined, but co-owner Ricky Caplin said they have narrowed it down to the final two locations, plus it will be a community stadium that other clubs and teams can use.
Sporting JAX is set to begin their seasons in 2025.
