JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Soccer fans on our First Coast had a chance to celebrate and support the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team on Monday as they took on Uruguay.
Over at Grace Note Brewing, chants of "USA, USA" poured in.
Sporting JAX hosted six of these events for both the men's and women's national team.
Watch-party goers said not only are they here for some soccer, but they're also here for community.
"We met so many different individuals, new people that we've never met. Just to be together is such a nice thing. It reminds me how it feels back in Europe and other countries," said Jose Gonzalez, a USMNT fan. Gonzalez brought his family to the watch party. Originally from Europe, Gonzalez has been a soccer fan for decades. He appreciates the soccer community in Jacksonville.
"This is family. I'm here with my family, my son plays soccer, my wife loves it. It's a family event. Of course, we get to meet other fans and we get to just enjoy a nice thing in a family way," Gonzalez added.
