Day after release from jail, Jaguars' Zay Jones returns to practice

Jones rejoined the team Wednesday, the day after his release. Head Coach Doug Pederson said, "Quite honestly, until we hear something, it’s day-to-day for him."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Less than 48 hours after being booked into the Duval County Jail, Jaguars' wide receiver Isaiah "Zay" Jones was at the Miller Electric Center practicing.

On Monday, Jones was arrested on charges of domestic battery causing bodily harm and booked into Duval County Jail. He bonded out Tuesday afternoon.

Jones is accused of physical harming his child's mother and has been ordered not to contact her. He has an arraignment scheduled for December 6 at 2 p.m.

Jones returned to practice Wednesday wearing a knee brace. He has been "limited" for several weeks now due to a knee injury.

He has missed six of the last seven Jaguars games due to the injury. He has eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns this season and 261 catches for 2,785 yards and 59 TDs in a seven-year NFL career spanning Buffalo, Oakland, Las Vegas and Jacksonville.

Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson met with media ahead of practice. He said he's been in contact with Jones from the start of the alleged incident.

"Not much more than that other than it’s still ongoing, fact finding, information gathering, things of that nature. Quite honestly, until we hear something, it’s day-to-day for him,” said Pederson.

He said the short-term goal is to get him back on the field on Sunday while there are still uncertainties.

"Try to get him back up to speed football wise, he’s missed a few days and a few weeks, just see where he’s at," Pederson added.

The Jaguars are back at home on November 19th at 1 p.m.
