JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jaguars PREP organization makes it a point to grow flag football in our area. Even as recently as three years ago, there weren't as many flag football programs on the First Coast as there are now. This is per the Jaguars PREP organization.
Jaguars PREP said they saw a need for more camps, which can give athletes more opportunities at their disposal. The last week of July, the organization hosted several events that included skill work on the field, plus a 7-on-7 tournament. The event featured 16 girls flag football teams from all over Florida. Organizers said last year there were only 11 teams, but now moving forward, they anticipate the playing field to continue to grow each year, especially with how much attention their programs are getting nationally.
"At the high school level here in Jacksonville, it's like none other. I have USA Football wanting to run prospect ID camps here now. We have all-star teams that are going to represent us on national stages like ESPN. It's very important for us to do our part, and summer ball was needed in our area," said Adriel Rocha with Jaguars PREP.
"All 16 teams were playoff contenders last year. The growth is there because of the Jags PREP program," said Bachir Saoud, the Ed White head flag football coach.
The organization hosts events and provides resources for Youth Football, High School Football, and Flag Football.
The Jaguars PREP program plans on hosting more flag football and skills events as more people become interested.
