JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Armada announced on Tuesday, that David Gough will be the inaugural head coach of the FC U23 Women's team.
The team said Gough has an extensive coaching career spanning over 25 years; Gough brings a wealth of experience and an impressive track record of success to the Armada.
Originally from Abertridwr, Wales, Gough recently joined Armada FC. Before this, he enjoyed a successful stint as the assistant women's soccer coach at the University of Oklahoma, starting in 2021. His significant impact became evident during the 2022 season, where he played a crucial role in OU's best performance in eight years. This included noteworthy victories, such as an impressive win over the 11-ranked TCU, ultimately advancing to the Big 12 Semi-Finals.
Gough's coaching prowess was further highlighted as he led the program to consecutive number-one recruiting classes in the Big 12 for both 2023 and 2024.
With international expertise, Gough established "The ProPlayer.com" in 2018, a global athlete development program focused on empowering aspiring female players. Beyond coaching success, his dedication to elevating women's soccer is evident through roles with the Welsh FA, UEFA, and The FA, showcasing his commitment to coaching education.
