JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Impact Lions are on the cusp of making history as they stand merely two victories away from securing the boys basketball program's inaugural state championship. In a spirited display of support, the Lions, led by coach Ben Jones, were bid farewell in a celebratory send-off organized by the school community.
Earlier today, students, faculty, staff, and family members congregated within the school corridors to enthusiastically wish the Lions well on their journey to Lakeland. This marks the Lions' third appearance in the Final Four within the last five seasons, and they are poised to face Sagemont tomorrow afternoon at three o'clock.
Amidst cheers, applause, and smiles, the boys made their way through the supportive crowd, boarding the bus that would transport them to the crucial upcoming game. Despite a challenging start to the season, senior point guard and shooting guard Taylor Thompson reflected on the team's unwavering focus on their ultimate objective: the state championship.
"Even when we were struggling at first, it was still in our minds. That's always been the goal. That's what we're going there to do," remarked Thompson.
