JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — EverBank Stadium was packed and busy hosting athletes from all over the First Coast and Florida on Saturday. Boys and girls took to the field to participate in three events.
Despite a few weather delays, the day concluded with a flag football tournament on the organization's "flex field." Sixteen girls' flag football teams from Destin, Tallahassee and the First Coast competed.
Organizers noted that last year, there were only 11 teams and they anticipate the event will grow every year.
Adriel Rocha, with the Jaguars PREP organization, said he has seen firsthand the impact flag football has on the youth in the community and noted that the sport is growing.
