First Coasts' Laval Davis looks to secure his third gold medal with the U.S. Men's Flag Football Team

"His hands are great. He probably jumps the highest in flag football. He plays defense better than he plays offense, and he's known for his wide receiver skills."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Laval Davis, a Sandalwood High School alumnus, aims to secure his third gold medal with the U.S. Men's Flag Football Team at the IFAF Flag Football World Championships in Finland this August.

Davis, heralded as one of Team USA's premier athletes, began his athletic journey as a track star at Mississippi Valley State University, where he achieved success before transitioning to flag football. Known for his speed and agility, Davis has made significant strides in the sport over the past seven years.

"He's one of the fastest players in flag football," said former Team USA athlete Brian Traster. "His hands are great. He probably jumps the highest in flag football. He plays defense better than he plays offense, and he's known for his wide receiver skills."

Traster believes Davis's potential is yet to be fully realized: "He's probably the best rusher in the world. Your rusher is your best player on the field. When it's crucial, you'll see them call Laval in, and that's a great coaching move. To me, he's the best player on the field. The kid's unbelievable."

Currently competing with the Las Vegas Lucky Sevens in the American Flag Football league, Davis looks forward to maintaining his fitness and honing his skills in preparation for flag football's debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
