JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After finishing his three-year stint at Edward Waters University, football head coach Toriano Morgan receives a three-year extension.
“Under Coach Morgan's steadfast leadership these past years, our football program has shown impressive development and promise," noted Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Dr. Ivana Rich. "As both his track record and the team's continued improvement demonstrate, we have full faith in Coach Morgan to guide and motivate our student-athletes to realize their potential. We aim to support him wholeheartedly in nurturing our talent as we strive together for championship victories and school pride that will resound through Jacksonville."
Morgan joined the Tigers in 2021 as the 15th head coach in program history. Since then, Morgan has increased EWU's win output over three seasons, recently leading the Tigers to a 6-4 overall record in 2023, which is the program's first winning record since 2004.
In their second full season as a member of the SIAC, the Tigers went 5-3 against conference opponents. Offensively, the Tigers had some great numbers, finishing fifth overall in scoring offense (29.3 PPG), third in total offense (406.3 ypg), and second in passing offense (286.9 ypg).
