Andrew Jackson advances to championship game, second semi-final postponed

Due to uncontrollable humidity on the court, the Raines and Paxon game was pushed back a day. Tipoff is set for Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The second half of the semifinals at the Gateway Conference Tournament faced an unexpected disruption as condensation on the court prompted a necessary postponement. Initially, Paxon and Raines played for approximately four minutes before school officials intervened and halted the match. Following discussions among coaches, referees, and school administrators, a unanimous decision was reached to reschedule the remainder of the game to the next night at six.

The rescheduled semifinal match is slated to take place at Paxon. This adjustment, however, has led to a revision in the championship game's schedule. Originally set for the following night, it has now been relocated to Saturday. The championship game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM tip-off and will unfold at Andrew Jackson High School.

This sequence of events showcases the Tournament's commitment to ensuring fair and optimal playing conditions, prioritizing the safety of the players and maintaining the integrity of the competition. It also highlights the flexibility and collaborative decision-making process involving key stakeholders, such as coaches, referees, and school leaders, to address unforeseen challenges and uphold the standards of the Gateway Conference Tournament.
