ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The stage is set! However, we're used to this matchup. It's a tale as old as time.
In a highly anticipated Elite 8 matchup, the Bartram Trail Lady Bears and Creekside Knights are poised to renew their rivalry, meeting once again this season, this time in a clash that carries immense significance. The Lady Bears, fresh off their 2023 state championship victory, will host the Knights at 6 o'clock on Wednesday night, looking to extend their success against a formidable opponent. This intense rivalry runs deep in St. Johns County, with both programs combining to claim the last four state titles; Creekside secured the championship in 2022, while the Lady Bears clinched back-to-back titles in the preceding seasons.
Reflecting on their regular-season encounter, in which the Lady Bears emerged victorious with a 2-1 score, the team's midfielder, Ali Fletcher, commented on their approach to the upcoming do-or-die game against the Knights. "We try our best not to worry about that. We just want to put everything on the table like it's our last game ever, which it could be," said Fletcher.
Head Soccer Coach Jen Rodriguez underscored the importance of minimizing mistakes in this pivotal matchup. "This game is going to come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes. It's a fun rivalry," said Rodriguez.
As anticipation builds for the showdown on Wednesday, February 22nd, the Bartram Trail community is eagerly awaiting the outcome of what promises to be a spirited and closely contested match. For more information, click HERE.
