JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday that quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be limited at practice after suffering an "upper body" injury against the Philadelphia Eagles last week.

Lawrence did not miss a snap, but was seen on the sideline being worked on by trainers and took extra time to leave the locker room coming out of halftime. Lawrence also was treated for an apparent cut on his right hand.

Pederson said Lawrence came out of the game against the Eagles "sore," and could not say definitively if he would suit up against the Vikings on Sunday.

The Jaguars signed quarterback C.J. Beathard shortly before Pederson met with the media. He said the signing boosts their quarterback room with Lawrence and backup QB Mac Jones in tow. The team wanted to bring Beathard back at some point, he said, after Beathard injured his groin during the preseason.

Still, it gives the team an insurance plan in the event Lawrence is forced to miss any games.

"Trevor is sore, obviously. It gives us assurance. Mac is still [the] number two [quarterback] and prepares each week to play and now we've got another veteran quarterback on the roster," Pederson said.

When asked if Pederson was worried if Lawrence could play this week against Minnesota, he said he "can't answer that today, not sitting here Wednesday, no."

Lawrence missed one game last year due to injury but was beaten up throughout the season starting with a knee injury sustained in Week 6.

He suffered an ankle injury in Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals, sustained a concussion in Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens and a shoulder injury that occurred in Week 15 against the Baltimore Ravens, forcing him to miss the next week's contest against the Carolina Panthers.

If he were to sit Sunday, it would be just the second time in his NFL career he’s missed a start.
