JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As the Jacksonville Icemen approach the midway point of the season, they maintain their winning form, securing three victories in their last four games while holding the fourth position in the Eastern Conference standings.
Just a week ago, the Icemen finally defeated the South Carolina Stingrays, who had beaten them the previous five times this season.
Forward Brendan Harris believes the team's competitiveness has been a significant factor in their recent improvement.
"Our compete level is off the charts right now. Just some bad bounces in some games. Some immature mistakes that we're cleaning up right now, and we're learning along the way," said Harris, the Icemen's points leader.
Head coach Nick Luukko believes the team still has a lot more room for improvement in the second half of the season.
"Not quite at our peak yet, which I think is a good thing this time of year. We're winning games, but like I said, we're still not quite at the level we need to be at. So, makes for some good decision-making from us as coaches to help drive our players to the next level," said Luukko, the third-year head coach of the Icemen.
The Icemen will be back in action Friday, Jan. 26, taking on the Savannah Ghost Pirates on the road.
