ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets laying the groundwork this time of year during Spring Football for what they hope will be another run at a state title.
Last season the Yellow Jackets came within a win of having a perfect record and winning it all.
But the Jackets lost a heartbreaker in the state championship game to Daytona Beach Mainland 21-19.
Head Coach Brian Braddock is in his 12th season at St. Augustine.
Coach Braddock said the team did not lose a ton of starters, but they lost some gifted players the likes of cornerback Ja'Ki' Singleton who is a lock down corner and star running back Devonte Lyons who rushed for more than four thousand yards in his high school career.
Coach Braddock said there are some big shoes to fill but he is not worried about thinking too far ahead.
