JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Gaby Rourke has signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at the University of Kentucky, but that doesn't prevent her from excelling at other sports as she becomes just the second girl's flag football player from Duval County to amass over 1,000 receiving yards.
Rourke was also named the Jaguars Flag Football Player of the Week for April 1-7, during which she accumulated 299 receiving yards, four receiving touchdowns, 62 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and caught three interceptions on defense.
"I don't really play to get stats. I just play to play, play to win. So, keeping stats and seeing these numbers in person is definitely so much different than just being rewarded like a win," said Rourke. "A thousand yards is a lot more than people realize, so seeing it and knowing that I hit a thousand yards is really crazy."
Rourke has played five sports at the varsity level for Atlantic Coast High School including soccer, flag football, volleyball, softball, and even tackle football.
The future Wildcat became the first female to make the varsity football team at Atlantic Coast, as she served as the place kicker.
Through 14 games in the flag football season, Rourke had 82 catches for 1,013 yards and 16 touchdowns.
