JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, the third major of the LPGA season, kicks off today at the Sahalee Country Club, featuring a blend of elite talent from around the globe. Among these competitors is a local golf instructor, Stephanie Connelly-Eiswerth, who stands ready to compete against the world's best female golfers.
Connelly-Eiswerth, an LPGA and PGA certified instructor at San Jose Country Club, is no stranger to high-stakes competition. This marks her seventh overall major appearance and her sixth specifically at the Women's PGA Championship. Her experience and skill were recognized when she was named the 2023 Women's PGA Professional Player of the Year.
Stephanie earned her spot in this prestigious tournament by finishing in a tie for fifth at last year's LPGA Professionals National Championship. She relishes the opportunity to challenge herself against top-tier competition and values the recognition that comes with competing at this level.
"It's a special experience to be at a major championship. They pull out the red carpet from the golf course to the dining. It's just a privilege to be here. I love to compete and still be able to play golf even though my day job is teaching and coaching. So, it's really special to be able to share that with students and have the chance to be here and compete in a major championship," said Connelly-Eiswerth.
