ATLANTA — The PGA Tour season ended Sunday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for the 2024 TOUR Championship.
Scottie Scheffler, a Dallas native and the world's #1 golfer in 2024, claimed victory and took home $25 million in prize money. That pushed his season earnings, including bonuses, to just over $62.3 million.
But this season has also been pretty sweet for Scheffler's caddie, Ted Scott, too.
Scheffler talked Scott out of retirement in 2021 and has the best seat in the house as the 28-year-old runs riot through almost every PGA Tour field that is put together.
The professional looper has assisted Scheffler with all of his victories and has been extremely well compensated in terms of bonuses - on top of his base salary.
Scott, whose client list includes other golf greats like Bubba Watson, is estimated to have earned $2.6 million from Scheffler’s winnings in 2024 alone.
But with Sheffler's FedEx Cup win, Scott earned 10% of his winnings bringing in $2.5 million alone on Sunday.
This number would place Scott in the No. 19 spot, right behind Akshay Bhatia, when looking at top earners this year on tour. This means Scott has earned more than Jordan Spieth, Mackenzie Hughes, and many more in 2024.
After tallying up every event's earnings, Scott has reportedly made $5.2 million so far on tour in 2024, according to a Golf Monthly breakdown.
It's been a dream season for Scheffler, despite being arrested prior to the second round of the PGA Championship as he was accused of assaulting a police officer with his courtesy vehicle.
Sunday, Scheffler referred to the FedEx Cup as a season-long race being “silly” because everything came down to the final week at East Lake.
Morikawa won $12.5 million for finishing second. Sahith Theegala closed with a 64 and finished third, earning a $7.5 million bonus.
