MIAMI — In a clash between teams that missed out on the College Football Playoffs, the 6th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs dominated the 5th-ranked Florida State Seminoles 63-3, securing the 2023 Orange Bowl.
The 60-point margin of victory stands as the largest in the history of any bowl game, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. It also represents the most significant margin of victory against an AP top-five opponent in the AP poll era (since 1936).
Both teams faced roster challenges in this matchup, with the Seminoles missing over 30 players and the Bulldogs having over 20 absentees due to injuries, NFL draft declarations, and transfer portal entries.
Georgia had a slow start, only scoring once in the first quarter on a 15-yard rushing touchdown by Orange Bowl MVP Kendall Milton. However, in the second quarter, Georgia outscored Florida State 35-3, ultimately leading to the Seminoles' downfall.
Milton posted 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries, while the Bulldog offense scored on 9 of 12 possessions and amassed 673 yards of total offense, compared to the Seminoles' 209.
The UGA senior class concludes their careers with 50 wins, marking the most in program history, along with two national championships.
