JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The largest outdoor cocktail party did not disappoint, yet again.
Heading into this year's Border War, the Georgia Bulldogs appeared to be heavy favorites, given the season Billy Napier and the Florida Gators have had so far. However, as cliché as it sounds, everything gets thrown out in a rivalry game. That was once again the case, as we saw an absolute thriller at EverBank Stadium.
On the third drive of the game for Georgia, with the Gators up 3-0, Beck was picked off by Devin Moore, who returned it 32 yards.
On the very next play, freshman phenom DJ Lagway connected with Aidan Mizell for a 43-yard touchdown, putting the Gators up 7-3.
Lagway exited the game with a hamstring injury late in the second quarter and did not return, but the Gators led 13-6 at halftime.
In the second drive of the second half for Georgia, Dillon Bell broke free for a 33-yard run, setting up a Nate Frazier touchdown.
Score: tied at 13
After a Gators fumble, Beck found Cash Jones, who fought his way into the end zone.
Score: 20-13 Bulldogs
Two drives later, the Gators got right back in it, as Jakobi Jackson scored from 15 yards out.
Score: 20-20 tie
Beck finally caught fire after three early interceptions, finding Dominic Lovett, who scored with four minutes left in the game.
Score: 27-20 Bulldogs
The Gators looked for an answer, but third-string QB Aidan Warner was picked off by CJ Allen, sealing the game.
The Bulldogs won this one 34-20, marking their seventh win over the Gators in the last eight years.
