JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Edward Waters University has named Eric Jackson, Jr. as the new head coach for the women's basketball program, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a track record of success.
This comes 12 seasons after Charmaine Wilson took the helm for the Tigers.
Jackson arrives at EWU following a remarkable tenure at Rust College, where he propelled the Lady Bearcats to unprecedented heights. Over seven seasons, he amassed an impressive 148-43 record, clinching four consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Regular Season Championships, three consecutive GCAC Tournament Titles, and four consecutive appearances at the NAIA Women's Basketball Tournament.
Under his guidance, Rust College witnessed the emergence of two NAIA All-Americans, five All-Conference players, and notable individual accolades including the 2019 GCAC Freshman of the Year and the 2020 GCAC Player of the Year.
Jackson's stellar coaching acumen also earned him four GCAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year awards, cementing his status as the all-time leader in head coaching for Rust College Women's Basketball.
Jackson's coaching journey encompasses various successes, including a transformative two-year stint at Westside High School in Jacksonville. There, he orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, elevating the team from a 2-20 record to a 20-5 record and securing the school's first district championship.
