A woman was arrested Tuesday after police say that she was involved in multiple credit card thefts around the First Coast.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested Lakeisha Spotwood, 32, for credit card fraud after they connected her to incidents at the St. Johns Towncenter, Avenues Mall and surrounding stores.

One of the incidents took place at the Panera Bread located at 4668 Midtown Parkway, police say. A victim told police she was eating at the restaurant when she began getting notifications from her bank about her credit card being used at nearby stores.

The victim told police that a woman wearing sunglasses, a black shirt and black shorts walked by her and may have stolen the cards out of her purse that was hanging on the chair. She said she felt the back of her chair jostle, but didn't think anything of it. When she checked her wallet later on, she noticed that two of her credit cards were missing.

Police were able to locate a woman matching the suspect description at the Avenues Mall, later identified as Spotwood, and took her into custody.

Spotwood was also a person of interest in other credit card fraud investigations around Jacksonville and is wanted out of Pennsylvania.

According to the arrest report, Spotwood confessed to her crimes and was apologetic.
