Fishermen in central japan captured a giant squid in their nets Thursday morning and this one was alive.
Giant squids inhabit deep waters and are rarely seen alive.
The squid measured a little over 19 feet including its longest tentacle.
The fishermen saw the giant swimming, a first for many of them.
A local aquarium says this is the fourth giant squid caught this year in Toyama prefecture.
A spokesman says the squid will be used for research, not to make sushi.
