MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- Two Marion County Sheriff's Office majors were suspended with pay by the interim sheriff, Emery Gainey, on Saturday.

Major Don Maines over the Bureau of Professional Standards and major Tommy Bibb over the Bureau of Special Investigations were placed on paid administrative leave, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

There is no active internal affairs investigation and the length of time for their suspension is unknown.

The interim Sheriff was appointed by Rick Scott yesterday after Chris Blair was indicted on perjury charges.

We reached out to MCSO to ask if these suspensions were in connection with the Grand Jury investigation for their alleged use of excessive force and the perjury charges, but they could not make a comment on the connection at the time.

This is developing and we will keep you updated when we have more details.
