Trinity Christian Academy cancels first day of school after thunderstorm knocks out power

The school is working with contractors to fix the issue.

While thousands of Duval County school children head back to school on Monday morning, Trinity Christian Academy students will not.

According to their website, a storm took out power on Trinity's Hammond Campus located at 800 Hammond Boulevard on Sunday night.

The school will be closed until Thursday, Aug. 15 as it works with contractors to restore power.

"We are thankful for the expert crews from Miller Electric, CES Testing and Trinity maintenance, with assistance from JEA working to resolve the issues caused by the late-night lightning strikes," the school said in a statement.

The following calendar make-up days will be Nov. 11, Nov. 27, and Jan. 6.
