BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- An undercover officer who blended in well with students at Glynn Academy helped make cases that led to eight arrests.
The only incident on the high school campus was a student busted for selling pot.
School district police chief Rod Ellis says parents wanted something done and the undercover operation that launched six months ago was the answer.
"There was no weapon actually bought on campus, the idea generated on campus, but the weapons were bought off campus," said Ellis when asked about the the people facing weapons charges in addition to drugs.
The undercover operation by the school district was done with assistance from the Glynn/Brunswick Narcotics Enforcement Team. Two people were arrested in January on top of the six nabbed earlier this month.
Students say they learned of the on-campus police activity after the operation ended last week.
"I think it kind of gave a shock. There are actually people who are watching every move, no matter where you are on campus," said Kimberly Gendron, 18, as she was leaving the Glynn Academy campus during the lunch hour.
For the school district police chief, the undercover sting sends a message to students.
"You might want to think twice because you don't know who dealing with it, might be one of the good guys," said Ellis.
