JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Forgot the monotonous car rider drop off line each morning at Jacksonville Beach Elementary School, at least on the days fifth grader Brendan is working safety patrol.

The youngster has a dance and song as he opens each door to let students out at the curb.

Some students seem to walk right past him, used to the routine, but parents dropping off have to stick around for the show.

"Yeah, they can't go anywhere until I close the door," Brendan said.

So, he's guaranteed a captive audience, not that many are complaining.

"Oh my gosh, I love it," one parent said as she walked her three sons into school. "He's got more energy than anyone I've ever met."

He's got a song/dance that corresponds to each day.

There's "Have a Mac and Cheese Monday," "Have a hot tamale Tuesday," "Now Watch me Whip because it's Wednesday," "Have a Thriller Thursday" and finally "Have a French Fry Friday."

"Yeah, this is normal," said his mother Eileen. "This is all day everyday."

She says she's used to the dancing around the house.

"When we're at church and he's high fiving people coming back from the communion line, that's a little much. But here, I love it."

Essentially, he says his routine is just a quick way to break up the routine of the school and work week.

"I like to make people laugh," he said. "I hope they think about it all day and can stay in a happy mood."
