JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Folks are asking if they can get on the waiting list for the Apple Project Dental clinic under construction now in Jacksonville. The clinic is slated to be open in early 2015, and the non-profit group running it is accepting applications now from low income people who do not have insurance. Certain financial qualifications must be met.
Executive Director of Community Health Outreach, Mary Ann Cox, says the clinic will be the only free dental clinic in Jacksonville, unless you're homeless. (In that case patients can go to the Sulzbacher Center.)
The clinic is being built on land off Timuquana. A temporary clinic is open there now.
To get on the waiting list, you'll need to go to the temporary clinic location. Look for The Apple Project banner and pick up an application.

Right now 700 people are already on the waiting list, but Cox says the plans are to "get aggressive" to move through the waiting list as quickly as possible. The temporary clinic is open now for patients, even though construction is happening on the land next door.
