The Brunswick Landing Marina announced that a replica of the Santa Maria, the ship sailed by Christopher Columbus, will be casting its anchor in Brunswick in April.

The Nao Santa Maria will be offering guided tours starting from April 9 until April 14.

Guests who go on the tour will have the opportunity to wander the ship's five decks and discover what life was like sailing aboard the Santa Maria over 500 years ago.

The Nao Santa Maria was built in 2017 in Spain by the Nao Victoria Foundation in collaboration with the "Diputación Provincial de Huelva." It completed its first journey March 16, 2018 in Spain.

Since then, the Nao Santa Maria has made multiple journeys through various ports in Spain and France. On Nov. 26, it began crossing the Atlantic from the island of La Gomera.

The stop in Brunswick is a part of the East Coast tours along the U.S. The goal of these tours is to educate the public about the history of these famous ships of Spanish maritime history.
