JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Russell Tillis's ex wife's hands can tell her story: constantly shaking as she talked about the marriage she was in for 9 years.
"It was a lot of beatings and pushing and shoving. Put a gun to my head," said "Jennifer."
Russell Tillis' ex-wife, who we will refer to as "Jennifer," didn't want us to show her face on camera or reveal her actual name.
She said she's been through too much.
"Rape, mental abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse," Jennifer recalled.
Jennifer says Tillis had little education and was always in trouble with the law.
She divorced him in 1997 while he was in jail. Her thoughts after she was finally able to leave him? "Relief," said "Jennifer."
Jennifer says Tillis seemed like a decent man before she married him.
But a year after they were married, she says his attitude changed. Jennifer says he picked up a drug habit.
"My daughter would always say Daddy is stinky... because of the cocaine on his breath," Jennifer remembered.
We took a look at Tillis's criminal background. It's lengthy with charges of stalking, kidnapping and sexual battery.
A few documents revealed he had trouble with his neighbors, some filing for orders of protection.
The things Jennifer says he told the neighbors are threatening.
"I'm going to kill you, if you don't do what I ask you to do. I'm going to kill your family," explained Jennifer.
When asked about the recent discovery of human remains in his backyard... "It just freaks me out."
Do you think he's capable of doing something like that? Taking someone's life? "Yes I do," said Jennifer.
When asked if she had anything else to say: "Just say a prayer for him," said Jennifer.
A prayer for a man with a sullied past and an unknown future.
